1) What to expect during my first appointment

During you first appointment, you can expect to undergo a thorough evaluation and discussion of your symptoms and medical history. After a brief oral exam, we will determine if you’re a suitable candidate for oral appliance therapy. Please bring a copy of your sleep study along if possible. It can be obtained from your family physician or sleep specialist.

2) I just want to treat my snoring, do I have to go for a sleep study?

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a serious medical condition and since snoring is often a symptom of OSA, it should be ruled out before proceeding with treatment.

3) Where and how do I get a sleep study?

In Ontario, OHIP covered sleep studies are done by sleep labs to make a diagnosis of sleep apnea. A referral is required from a physician for a patient to undergo a sleep study. Speak to your family physician about getting a referral to see a sleep specialist. Email our office if you require more information.

4) Is oral appliance therapy covered by insurance?

Typically, medical insurance will cover or partially cover the expenses related to your sleep apnea treatment. To ensure clarity on your coverage, it’s advisable to reach out to your insurance provider in advance. Our office is able to send out a predetermination on your behalf. Please email our office if you require more information

5) Does oral appliance therapy really work for obstructive sleep apnea?

Like any other medical procedure, results vary depending on the individual.
